This is a possible connection as we know that our ancestor came from Wick, and Andrew had three older siblings, indicating he would need to make his own way, a birth date in the right range and was a quarrier, the Caithness Stone industry started in 1758 and was shipping from 1793. There is no record of a marriage or death in Caithness. His grandfather, Andrew Laird has his death recorded in Paisley, Renfrewshire, as does his great grandfather, John Laird and other family members.
