Caithness is the northernmost county on the mainland of the United Kingdom, and its name records its history. “Caith” comes from “Catti”, later the Clan Keith, mentioned in Historic Castles and Families of the North. “Ness” comes from the Norse “Nes” meaning a headland and so combines the Celt with the Norse as do the people of our ancestral land.
