Little

The Little family is connected with my GGG Grandmother  Elisabeth Park of Tyrone, whose father was William Little (78 in 1840 putting his birth in about 1762.)
In 2013 I had a very interesting exchange with the late David William Little. His family were in Paisley from about 1817 coming from Co Down Ireland. His 4 x Grandfather William Little was born c 1760 and came with his sons Richard, William, Alexander and three Daughters (names unknown. His son Richard married Elizabeth Burke who died quite young and he married again, Martha Burke. He died in the USA on 27th April 1879. His son Richard Junior was drafted into the Union Navy 1863 and fought in the US Civil War, shown on his Naturalization Records on Feb 22 1870 where a witness was a John Burke (also Veteran Pension Records). William, Richard’s brother was his 3x Grandfather. He married Anne Laird, born in Ireland to Andrew Laird & Elizabeth (Unknown at the time but now known to be Park). Andrew and Elizabeth’s sons. William Laird age 38 & John Laird age 24 in 1841 were Dyer’s in Thompson’s Dyeworks, Causeyside, Paisley, a sister Elizabeth age 22 worked in a cotton mill in Glasgow and James Laird age 18 weaver in Cotton Street with Margaret. Anne Laird who married his  3x Grandfather William was widowed in 1840 they had two children William and Mary age 5 & 2. William was his  G G Grandfather. Andrew Laird was witnesses to births along with Richard Little.
We know that my G Grandfather, John Clydesdale

Richard Little, born 1808, County Down, married firstly Elizabeth Burke (OPR 19th April 1829, below) (she was the elder sister of GG Grandmother, Jane Burke), born c 1821. He then married Martha Burke (eldest sister of Elizabeth and Jane Burke after 1851, the 1851 Census, below, shows her as Housekeeper and the 1861 Census shows her as his Wife, below).
He apparently married Elizabeth Watson in Trumbull Ohio on 29th October 1875 (no original source found). The 1870 Census for Trumbull Ohio shows Elizabeth Watson as “keeping house” (below). (In some family trees Elizabeth Watson is shown as Richard’s wife with the same dates as Elizabeth Burke.) He died May 1879 in Ohio.
